Good food, great service.I recommend this place, but it is a bit pricy vs a few other bbq places. The gumbo, beans and rice, corn bread, shrimp po boy, ribs, hush puppies, German sausage are all great choices.
This place surprised us every time we went..twice so far. But the food is amazing!!! Totally hole in the wall...People please go eat there. And Sunday free pool table after 6pm.The spicy Cajun sauce, ask for it..so good on the catfish..blackened or fried.Service is great!
Well hello those who have seen my other reviews! First let me say, if you would like me to review your place, please reach out to me! Now, that being said, let's talk BBQ! I being from VERY Southern Louisiana, have a very high standards when it comes to BBQ.Let me tell you, it has NOT been easy finding any BBQ here in the Colorado state that satisfies my hunger for good, smokey meats! Mo Jeauxs is an exception however! Right off the bat you receive very friendly and fast service from the employees there! They have an air of ease about them and in turn the atmosphere reflects that! People enjoy themselves with good company and great food! The music/TV weren't too loud so you could enjoy a good conversation without yelling! Kids are welcome here as well! Now to the good and somewhat ok parts, the FOOD! We will start with the Cornbread. The only thing I didn't care for was the honey that was on top of the cornbread instead of made in it.This could be my personal bias, but it kind of just gave more mess than needed.Especially since the real mess is the BBQ itself! (Not a bad thing) Other than that I enjoyed the taste of the cornbread. Next up is the fried okra, a personal favorite of mine! While it was utterly delicious and none of them were stringy, they could have used a bit more salt seasoning. Then again, I have found that my southern taste of seasoning has found the food here in the north always lacking seasoning no matter where I go. Third are the slamming hushpuppies! These I could not have made better myself! They melted in my mouth and were seasoned perfectly! The fry on them was not overdone or burnt but a buttery golden brown! Well done here! Fourth, the gumbo. This was the better gumbo I have had here but it was okra based. It did not take away from the taste and it was a good gumbo, but it did not make me think of true gumbo which is rue based.Nevertheless, it was a gumbo that had no left overs. Now the Fried Catfish. This was another southern dish that was done well except for the fact that it still had the very fine, small bones in.This is not usually a problem if you fry them yourself and leave them in, but at a restaurant it was a bit of a surprise in the throat. Not being prepared for the bones in had a the first bite get stuck going down from the small bones. Please put on the menu that they have bones and could be a choking hazard! Sixth, the BBQ sauce in the bottles was a bit too sweet and not enough savory. It pretty much tasted like an off ketchup.I barely touched it.The sauce that came on the meat was not the same as the sauce in the bottle though and went well with everything! Seventh, the Queso that came with the chips was phenomenal but it was not nearly enough to go with the big pike of chips that came with it.Double the amount of queso or half the amount of chips and you're golden! Next up, the melt in your mouth Brisket! I cannot tell you how satisfied I left after having the Brisket! This was so tender and well seasoned, it will be the first reason that I come back! Like I said, good BBQ is hard for me to find here.Yet this Brisket knocked me off of my feet! Ninth, l we ha e the not red beans and rice. This one hurt as it was called red beans and rice but it was made with pinto beans and tomato sauce. So it was dyed red beans and rice.To actually BE red beans and rice, you have to cook with actual red beans. While this did taste good, it was a disappointment as it was not the red beans and rice that comes with BBQ. Tenth is the Cole slaw. This was a pleasant surprise as the slaw was not overly runny or vinegary. Most slaw I have seen here are drowning or so strong UT burns your mouth.Mo Jeauxs has this down pat so it is as it should be for a slaw, refreshing! Nice job here too! And lastly, I would have to say there needs to be salt and pepper at the table. There were times I would have liked to add a bit but there was only the BBQ sauce I did not want. That is all I had for Mo Jeauxs! A wonderful spot where I found to date the best BBQ in Colorado! Besides B
