If you are on the search for good French food in the area, then give Le Refuge a try.
I had never been there before but have driven by it numerous times.
The food was delicious and filling.
I ordered the grilled rockfish with lemon butter sauce and I devoured every bite.
I especially loved the puréed carrots on the side.
But my absolute favorite was the escargot.
I always order the escargot at French restaurants and this was the most unique version I've encountered.
Instead of snails placed in individual pockets of olive oil and butter, this was a cassoulet of escargot swimming in a rich tomato stew.
I couldn't lick the plate clean enough after I was done.
It was a remarkable mix of flavors.
So I absolutely recommend you order that appetizer when you visit. The place itself was interesting with all the French country cottage decor.
It is small in the restaurant which is why you need to make reservations ahead of time to actually get a table.
The service staff were kind and very prompt. As for taking a date, I would say it is a place you take someone you have already been seeing for at least a couple of months.
Someone you are already comfortable sharing food with because it's fun to try multiple dishes together.

Truly authentic French restaurant in Old Town that is a great experience.
You walk right into a classic French restaurant environment led by a hard working and efficient team ready to make your evening a good one.
The menu has all of the classics, the wine menu is well done and can accommodate any pairing.
Le Refuge is an awesome choice for nice date night.

A great atmosphere with food expertly prepared and very attentive to details.
The prices are outstanding for such a high-end restaurant.
