The service was absolutely amazing. The atmosphere of a converted old house is rustic and unique. The food was ok..Muscles were overcooked and rubbery, pasta was under seasoned.Portion size was good, but quality control was lacking. It was extremely busy, but this is when qc counts most.
Skip's is wonderful every time we visit. Our favorites are the salmon for me and the steak deburgo for my husband. He thinks it is hands down the best steak deburgo he has ever had.Great apps, drinks & service.
I haven't been to Skips for a long time, and I doubt I'll be back.I sat at the bar at 4:30, and ordered a drink (mulberry mule, which was fine) and at the same time, a to-go order of the "famed" pecan crusted chicken salad.I worked on my drink, and a new book, and waited for my order to be ready. And waited. And waited. Finally, at 5:40 pm my to-go order was handed off to me.I opened it in the car in the parking lot immediately after receiving it as I had already cashed out thirty minutes prior, and realized the chicken was luke-warm and soggy (how long did it sit???), and the bread pudding was dry AND COLD. ☹️ I get that kitchens can get busy but the amount of time I waited and dropping $40, it was so not worth the hype. I will admit it got busy after 5 ...Maybe you might have a better experience eating in, but I can name a dozen DSM restaurants that ace both dine-in AND to-go.
