I've always heard that Screen Door was one of the best restaurants in Portland for many, many years and I finally got around to getting a table to try this restaurant out.
Firstly, the decor of the Pearl Screen Door was absolutely fantastic; I loved the outdoor seating and the color scheme of the inside with a mix of wood and old style lights.
It felt very cozy and welcoming. The food selections are varied but not so plentiful that it becomes overwhelming which I like.
I tried the fried chicken & gravy and biscuits and it was AMAZING, it was so much more than I was expecting.
The chicken was moist, the skin was beautifully seasoned, and the gravy was fantastic.
The biscuit was one of the best I've had in Portland, it's so worth getting with your meal. We also got the waffles which are the best we've tried in Portland, beautifully sweet and they melt in your mouth.
There are few other places I would urge people to go to besides Screen Door.
This place is definitely worth the hype and I recommend anyone who hasn't had a meal here to get one!

We love screen door.
By far our favorite breakfast joint in downtown.
It’s comfort foods at its best.
The fried chicken is juicy, crispy & salty which pairs well the sweet potato waffles. I got shrimp & cheesy grits.
Which was good.
But I prefer the catfish.
I judge a good southern place by its catfish & fried okra.
This place does not disappoint.

Sat at the bar, quick service.
Very clean restaurant and bathroom, in door and outdoor seating.
Friendly staff.
Small menu but delicious food.
Very large portions, fresh and hot and lots of flavor.
Prices were fair, and parking was a little tricky in the downtown area: highly recommend and would return to this location.
