Duckworth's Grill & Taphouse

I ordered takeout, and the food was good.
I wish they provided tartar sauce with the fish instead of honey mustard.
The french fries were okay.
They were overcooked and too much color.
The salmon was delicious! The impossible burger was good too.
The diner burger looked great.
Overall, it was good minus the french fries which was a miss.

My fiancee and I went to Duckworth's last night after this place was recommended to me for the nachos.
Well, it was pretty disappointing 😔.
He ordered the fajitas nachos, the chicken was dry and cold, no flavor, no beans, overall rating 1/5 stars for the nachos.
I ordered a burger and the meat tasted so weird, the bun was soaked and I basically had to use a fork to eat it, is like when you let the tomato sit for hours on the bread.
But since I was super hungry, I ate it.
I was up all night with a very upset stomach after eating the burger.
-0- stars for my burger.
The waitress was very nice, 5/5 stars to her.
Ambiance was ok, place did NOT look too clean, floor was dirty even at the table where we were sitting.
Some liquid had fallen to the floor before us and it was never cleaned.
1/5 stars in the cleaning department.
Drinks - my fiancee liked his stout beer, my Budlight was close to room temperature 🥹 so 2/5 stars for that.
Overall, we are not going back.
We went to Mac's Speed Stop in Matthews on Wednesday and their nachos were waaaay better than last night.
For burgers, I will stick to Wayback Burger ❤️.

So, I rated the atmosphere as only 4 stars and the food as only 4 stars, but still rated our visit to Duckworth's as 5 stars.
You might be asking how that works.
I'll tell you how.
This is a perfect example of how great service from a friendly and knowledgeable staff member can elevate the whole experience.
First off, this is a sports bar, albeit a rather upscale sports bar.
The atmosphere is what it is and it will be very hard for any sports bar to rate 5 stars on atmosphere or food with me. Our waitress, Hannah, was the cream of the crop.
Hannah was the sprinkles on top.
Hannah was head and shoulders above a sports bar staffer -- and it was never a doubt.
When my first choice of draft beers was kicked, she was right on the spot with an alternative recommendation and it turned out exactly my style and taste.
She was thoroughly knowledgeable on all of the menu items, made suggestions, and even nailed the custom orders.
If only all wait staffers could be as professional AND friendly as Hannah! So this is the prime example of how a 13 star total out of 15 possible can still merit an overall 5 stars. Finally -- y'all need to tip your wait staffers with CASH instead of putting it on your card with the bill.
These hard working people deserve to get ALL of that tip without it being reported on their tax forms, having some of it withheld, and then having to wait to receive the funds.
Just be kind and TIP IN CASH.
