If you're thinking about eating here, stop thinking and go! This has been the best food, the best service, and the best prices we've had in New Orleans.
What makes this special is that it tastes like home cooking.
Everything was seasoned to perfection.
The textures were also perfect.
I recommend the chicken, mac and cheese, french fries, and jambalaya.
Give them your business.
Give them your money.
This restaurant deserves to THRIVE!

Thank you so much for the review.
Yes, THRIVING!! We receive that!

New Orleans, like many major cities, is changing.
Large scale gentrification and chain corporations can make you long for the days when you could stop by a neighbor’s house to “get a plate”, and you know that plate would be delicious and made with love.
Well folks, New Orleans is lucky to have a place right uptown where you can get that homecooked flavor, at the one-and-only Suzie’s Soulhouse, a family-run restaurant that has years of experience in local catering. My husband and I went to Suzie’s on a Saturday evening, and got a table with no wait.
The staff (Suzie’s daughters) were welcoming and friendly, and fellow patrons also contributed to a very chill, casual vibe.
We started off with homemade lemonade, which was the perfect ratio of sweet to tart.
I had the seafood pasta, which features a tasty cream sauce and crawfish.
My husband had the fried chicken, which he reported as crispy and flavorful on the outside, and moist on the inside.
His dish came with delicious mac n’ cheese and smothered cabbage. The real mic drop at Suzie’s Soulhouse came with dessert.
We got the peach bread pudding with rum sauce, and it was HEAVEN.
Now I have family from New Orleans, and lived there for 7 years, so I know my way around a bread pudding.
I daresay I am a bread pudding conossoire.
This was the best bread pudding I have eaten in my long and blessed life; moist and tasty, the peaches added some excellent fruitiness, and the sauce was truly sensational. Don’t miss this soul food experience that leaves you feeling like you just left your mama’s house after a lovingly prepared meal.
That is, if your mama is a gourmet cook from New Orleans! The food here is prepared with quality and time, which are lacking in today’s society.
Chef Suzie even came out of the kitchen to greet us, for which I felt extremely lucky! Don’t miss this uptown gem!

What an excellent and detailed review👏🏾👏🏾.
It was a pleasure having you and your husband stop by and we are happy to hear you enjoyed your meal.
See you next time!! Thanks 😊

Both Uber drivers asked me how I found this place and it’s because I searched for black owned restaurants.
Also because they felt the place is new, they didn’t know about it.
They had good pictures, so I was eager to try.
The fried catfish and shrimp basket was delicious.
The homemade fries are a winner.
They forgot the hush puppies, but when I went back in, they added them.
The hush puppies are basic small, so they could have kept them, lol.
They didn’t offer any other fish options, just catfish.
There were only three groups in the store, and it took about 35 minutes for our food to come out.
They have a pizza oven in there, which is weird, considering they don’t sell pizza, she mentioned it’s built into the location, so I imagine it cost too much to take out.
I ordered the $13 stew chicken lunch special.
Great price and It was great with rice and the cabbage was good also with sausage in it.
They don’t have servers for dying in even though you can eat in which is fine.
The cashier was nice and helpful.
The atmosphere is OK and in a good location.
Not a super large menu, but adequate.
I’d come back here and recommend this place to others.
The wait time, forgetting the hush puppies, and only having one type of fish, almost dropped it down to a four star but I am very full and everything was flavorful, so I can’t complain about what I ordered and ate today.
Definitely try the fish and shrimp basket as well as the stew chicken.
They were great.
Can’t tell you about parking as we were dropped off in an Uber
