Checked out this low key sushi place right in the heart of Brookside.I got the Kansas City Roll and Rainbow Roll.Both were delicious.Our waitress was super nice. It wasn't very busy when we went just because it was after lunch and before dinner.I would love to come back for dinner for a night time vibe.It had a nice, sleek and simple atmosphere.I loved the painted cherry blossoms on the wall!
Update: I have now gotten bad food here twice.The first time it was just the pickled ginger.I told the waitress it had turned and they gave me a story about their supplier being out and they had to get it from a different vendor, but did not seemed concerned that it was legitimately not fit for consumption.However, this last time it was one of their raw fish pieces.I'm not quite sure what it was as it was in their Chirashi bowl, but it was white, and slimy (in a BAD way) amd I couldn't make myself power through it and ended up having to spit it out.Will not be returning. Original Review: It's alright.Not great sushi but definitely not bad.A bit pricy for what it is, probably due to its central Brookside location.Sister restaurant to Jarocho which is a delicious Mexican style seafood restaurant.Wife is Japanese, husband is Mexican.The chirashi bowl was nice, lunch-only though.
The sushi was above average.This place is new, so I plan to check back at some point in the future.However, the atmosphere is a little lacking.There's lots of great opportunity for atmosphere; like a bar and other excellent decor features.It just is a little bland, and I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that people haven't discovered it yet. I evaluate the price of sushi in a restaurant based on the price of their rainbow roll.Here it is $16.That is the most expensive rainbow roll I have ever seen in the midwest.Lunch for two with a Coke and a beer cost $50. I don't see myself having lunch here everyday, but I will definitely consider it again for some special occasions.
