Slight new style inside with odd, plastic cafeteria-esque platters. Tea was good, only a small amount served per order. Gyoza burnt, could use more filling but great flavors otherwise. Seaweed salad.Good amount but not as fresh as it could be. Sushi was very good.Very fresh, could have gone more light handed with the sauces. … after dinner Had to hear bussers making loud nasty comments about customers to each other; also in front of other customers.Very ignorant and rude. Terrible customer service by means of the unprofessional bussers, again, on a believing they have any option on the amount that someone should tip.
Recommended to try this place out and was not disappointed.Right when you enter the door the staff is friendly and greets you.We were asked if we would like to choose our seat and we sat inside, kind of center to the bar and the outside patio just to get a gauge of the environment. ATMOSPHERE: There are multiple TVs with various broadcasts on.Good for those lingering visuals you might have in between conversations. The bar itself is very modernly dressed with a gorgeous display of drinks on the shelf behind the sushi chef.Menus by the bar give indications of deals if those are your jam, we came late around 7pm and left around 8:30pm, never feeling rushed while we ate and conversed.Outside you have an ample seating area with heat lamps to support those chilly San Diego winter nights. FOOD: We tried to order a well rounded pallette of everything so we could sample a little here and there around the menu.Starting with the chicken katsu, I felt it was prepared perfect.Great crunchy exterior and full slices of meat inside.Other restaurants I've had experience with grissly/fatty chunks and taking some of the appeal away, but every piece was delicious to me.The fried green beans and purple potatoes were also excellent, cooked perfectly so that they weren't soggy and falling apart when you bite them and also not raw and too rigid. The miso soup was a tad on the salty side, but not to the point of being inedible. Those of you who like to have a dab of soy inbetween bites would love this.On the sushi side we did the lobster and California rolls, as well as Calamari.I'll say this, there are 20 photos I'm attaching to this review and none of Calamari. That plate was inhaled so fast we forgot to do a capture. All the other sushi was refreshing, kudos to the chef. OVERALL OPINION: I'd love to come back to Saki Saki again and try some more options on the menu.Seeing some of the other reviews I wouldn't think this is the same place.Courteous staff, good food, pleasant atmosphere (not too loud music by any means).Looking forward to the next time we're up by Miramar and can take a short trip to Saki Saki!
The service and food of this spot is really great! My friend and I came for social hour, which is a good deal for the quality of the food.Highly recommend the lemon cilantro, fat boy, rock n roll, and crispy albacore rolls!!
