Very flavorful food.Heavy, hearty southern dishes.Well seasoned and tasty.Everything was DELICIOUS.Very friendly and helpful staff. There was a long line that extended outside, so there was a significant wait time before ordering but once we ordered the food came out quickly.Large open seating area.Nice ambiance.I liked the mix of modern and vintage decor. We were seated very close to other guests, borderline uncomfortably close - definitely not the place for private conversations.Mostly carb and calorie heavy food options. We tried the buttermilk yogurt, shrimp and grits and a breakfast sandwich, everything tasted amazing.I would definitely come back.
Came here on a Saturday morning around 11am and there was a line out the door.We only waited for about 15 minutes to order and be seated. I ordered the shrimp and grits, a side of scrambled eggs, and potatoes. The shrimp and grits were pretty underwhelming which was disappointing. The grits were thick and creamy but lacked flavor - they were salted/buttery.The shrimp were fresh and seasoned but the roux was just oily with no flavor. Most shrimp and grits dishes the grits are either seasoned or the roux the shrimp is cooked in is seasoned. The eggs were good. The potatoes were my favorite part.Super flavorful and crispy on the outside, soft inside.I would come back and try something else.Everything else I see from others around me looked delicious.
This place was amazing. It is a cafe meaning it's open early and close by 3:30 or so.Best fish and grits I've had.You must try the Beignets.Best this side of the Mississippi...at least in Chicago.
