Lola produces stellar food, service, and atmosphere. I’ve spent two weeks in Spain—Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Granada—and Lola slaps. Check the menu before you go to make sure you’re prepared to pay for the experience you want.
This place is SO SO GOOD! I joined 2 dear friends for dinner tonight at Lola.We did have a reservation, but it looks like Wednesday might be a good day to sneak in if you decide to come last minute. The space is so great.I can only imagine how wonderful it is during the day.I bet it's full of light! The service was wonderful.Everyone was friendly and attentive. The food...THE FOOD. If you follow me at all, you know that I tend to eat gluten-free while out to avoid barley and that cross contamination does not affect me.Well...Nearly the entire menu is or can easily be made gluten-free.There were only about five items total that I couldn't order, and they even have gluten-free crackers so that you can eat the delicious eggplant dip. We tried a number of tapas and the octopus entree.I would literally eat everything again, but those lemon artichokes are to die for.The octopus entree is divine. And the dessert we chose was a perfect end. In total, we shared four appetizers and one entree.I had one drink, and I believe my companions had two or three each. Our total was about $200 before tip, which is incredibly fair for the location and quality of food. You should definitely give this place a shot and make sure you come with someone who likes to share plates.
This hidden gem is nestled in Sylvan Park, and while the atmosphere is very beautiful, the food was a little bit of a letdown. It wasn't bad, but nothing that blew us away.It is a tapas style menu, and we ordered 2 entrees, 3 smaller dishes, as well as a dessert. The Papa Bravas were ok, but just not the best I've had. However, I will say, of the places I've had octopus in Nashville, this is the best cooked octopus I've had yet.The croquettes were a mushroom and leak, and honestly, I think the color turned me off more than anything once they were cut open. The Basque Cheesecake was not the sweet we expected, but it was more of a savory dessert. It's not my personal preference, but I can see where people would love it.Personally, I wish it would have had a sauce, even if on the side for dipping or to pour over, but that's not how the chef designed this dish.Like I said, though, just a personal preference.
