Il Vicino Wood Oven Pizza - University Village Colorado Springs

My wife, son and I decided we wanted pizza for a late meal, so after searching through a list of restaurants, we picked this place because it had a wood-fired oven. When we arrived, there weren’t many cars around, but being a holiday, I wasn’t surprised.
I don’t think that there would be challenges finding a place to park at any time, though. The prices seemed very reasonable for a 12” pizza, and these pizzas are really designed for one person unless you’re not very hungry, in which case two people could share one. When we went to the counter to order, the lady at the counter asked if we wanted the 12” or 8”.
Apparently, the menu shows the 12” price, and the 8” prices are a few dollars less.
My wife ordered the smaller size, and my son and I opted for the 12”. As for the pizza options, my wife and son ordered a Testarossa, which features pepperoni, red peppers, mushrooms and other items.
I selected a plain cheese pizza and then added mushrooms. The food came out quickly and was really delicious.
We had no trouble finishing off the pizzas. While you do place your order at the counter before sitting down, this feels more like a full service restaurant.
We sat down and a server brought us our food and drinks.
She also took care of refills.
It was nice to relax a bit after a day of hiking. I’d recommend this place for your pizza fix.
The service is quick and the food is tasty.

Stopped in for a quick lunch, and we're very pleased.
Clean, open, and calm atmosphere.
You come in and order and then take a seat, and then service comes to you.
The guy who took our order and served us was very knowledgeable and respectful.
We had #5 pizza and #31 salad.
We're pleased with how things were presented.
Our food tasted delicious and the table service was great.
He offered cracked pepper for the salad and parmesean for the pizza.
Yummy! I highly recommend a visit.

We came here looking for some good authentic Italian food to get away from all the fast good surrounding us.
We were not disappointed.
They want you to order before you sit, I found a little weird but not a problem at all.
We ordered one of their special pies and a small chicken Ceasars salad.
They were both amazing with every bite.
We also ordered a bottle of wine, which went perfectly.
The pizzas were a little bit bigger than a personal pie.
So, with a family of 2 and 2 halves, it was not filling enough.
We decided to order desserts instead of more food, and we were even more satisfied.
We ordered 3 large cheesecake slices and 3 large cannolis.
If we weren't full before, we certainly were now after that.
I highly recommend ordering small meals and saving rooms for dessert.
The desserts were mouthwatering with every bite.
