Southern staples (barbecue, fried seafood, blackened options) served with two sides.Stewed Cabbage side, a highlight.Fried Shrimp, on Po Boy Sandwich or as a side (pay per shrimp), excellent. Industrial interior speaking to the pier-side past of Dogpatch is novel. Only comment is the crispy fried batter could be a little less greasy.Complimentary corn bread muffins, delicious with salty butter.
I need to remind myself again how good Hard Knox Cafe is.The down to earth vibe and the legit southern food here are consistently good at least for 10 years to my knowledge. The price tag looks normal but when you send the food portion, you then know that this place worths it.The fried chicken is "dried" without oil excess while the meat is still juicy, especially dark meats. The mac and cheese is creamy and cheesy like you want to sacrifice your calorie budget. And the collard greens tastes like home comfort food (coincidently my home Chinese dish is very similar to southern collard greens: it is bitter vegetable stew). And Oh warm fluffy and fragrant corn muffins topped with butter! In any event, this is the place I should visit more!
Food was awesome and the service was great. The bar tender dealt with a bad situation very professionally and the fried pork chops were huge and tasted like my grandma made them!
