Belyou was a fantastic server. She was very helpful in selecting the perfect veggie options. The food was tasty and spices, just how I like it. I highly recommend Family as the must go to Ethiopian restaurant in D.C.
Had a great meal here with my wife.We had the family dish with meat and veg.It was a good portion for the 2 of us.Food was delicious. Their spiced tea was amazing.
This restaurant was a new experience for sure. One thing that I want to commend this restaurant one is their prices—for a Michelin star restaurant based in Washington DC, if you are on a budget this is the restaurant to go to, ESPECIALLY if you are vegetarian.Their selections are great, and if you are vegetarian, you have lots of choices and can spend about $18 on 2-3 people. We ordered a vegetarian platter and a side of chicken (doro watt) and it was excellent. There is an amazing balance of sweetness with spice— a sign of a truly seasoned dish in my opinion is a dish that can have spices without actually being spicy. This restaurant emulated that perfectly. If you do order meat though, I will admit the price does begin to increase rapidly. This is a true family style restaurant though because you will share with people at your table. You get one massive platter of food and from there everyone can take bites. You get unlimited bread—it is fermented so it has tiny holes on the bottom, like a sponge. It is amazing in that it is incredibly airy and positively melts in your mouth.Overall, this restaurant is a recommendation, not only for its price, but for its amazing atmosphere and incredible food.
