Such a neat concept for a burger place.
It's a great concept that you get to write down the different toppings and type of burger you want and then slide the paper through.
I had one char burger with cheese and a vanilla milkshake.
Burger was delicious and so was the shake especially for how cheap it was.

The concept of "Build Your Burger" is great; I love it. The folks are very friendly and even around lunch time were fast, I barely had to wait. My issue, and I know I may get flak for it, is the flavor of the burgers.
When I chomp on a char-grill burger and close my eyes, can I tell it's special, taste slightly burned edges, get char-grill flavor? Nope. I know CG is an institution, but for me the lust-factor – "I'm full, but I could eat another one" – is just not there.

This is the OG of Chargrills.
I grew up eating here.
All of the food is really damn good.
I love the current atmosphere and wish it was not going away for a large building but it is what it is.
I am probably bias about chargrill because I have been eating here for such a long time but it is a Raleigh icon and it is a must try asap if you are visiting or live in the area.
Hot dogs are red dogs.
Chili and slaw is very good.
The cheeseburgers are the smallest size of all the burger sizes.
They are actually my favorite.
The junior is in the shape of a hot dog type bun but the 2nd largest option and the hamburger steak is the largest.
All are very good.
Apple turn over awesome.
Milkshakes are very good but thick.
Get a spoon.
Go try it before the original location changes.
By the way if you have never been here you order by filling out a form and sliding it through a slot in the front window.
They will call your name or number on the slip.
