My wife and I celebrated her birthday with dinner at Cortez last night.
Overall it was a great experience! The only nit would be we waited 10-15 mins after being seated for our waitress to stop by.
The rest of the night more than made up for it. We ordered oysters, several small plates and shared the taco plate.
The food was delicious and delivered at a good cadence, so we were not inundated with plates all at once.
The food was prepared perfectly, tasty and fresh. As I put a note in our reservation that it was my wife's birthday, they kindly provided a free champagne toast and a churro with ice cream dessert with a candle.
My wife was thrilled!! This was our second time dinning at Cortez, and both times the meals were excellent.
We are looking forward to our next visit!

Yes, I got a burger at a seafood restaurant.
But in my defense, this burger is listed as one of the best in town.
I think it’s a very good burger.
It’s smaller than I expected but the fries definitely help fill you up.
The burger was juicy and has a great sauce on it that also comes with the fries.
Small space with a relaxed atmosphere with some nice touches like cloth napkins.

Hands down our favorite happy hour date spot in Raleigh. Do yourself a favor: Go at 5pm on a Friday, sit at the bar, order an oyster shooter and whatever cocktail you wish (they're all amazing), split oysters & the burger, and DO NOT skip dessert.
If there's a seasonal cake/ice cream, order it.
Otherwise, the churros and the tres leches are both amazing.
Repeat monthly!
