Have loved this place for decades. My parents even loved it before I was born many many moons ago.It has existed in various locations across LR, but their current spot on downtown’s vibrant Main Street is my favorite so far.You can always count on someone from the Bruno family to be in house welcoming you and ensuring their reputation of quality stays up. Jeff the bartender is a great guy who works his tail off and can mix a beautiful cocktail.Great meal before the Rep or a show at Robinson.Dinner only.Pro tip.Get there right before 5:00pm or you’ll be standing in line outside, or come after 7:30 when “true believers” have left for their event.Favorite meals, fried ravioli, lasagna, chicken parmigiana (ask them to pound the chicken really flat), my made up recipe that the chef always gladly accommodates, spaghetti carbonara “sweep the kitchen” style which includes all the veggies that can possibly go on a pizza.Dude, you can’t go wrong at this place.Sidewalk cafe style seating when the weather is agreeable.
A lovely dinner was ruined by one small thing.Fennel.I should've told the waitress that I didn't care for the dinner, but by the time I put my finger on what was wrong, it was already getting pretty late and I had eaten a good portion of the meal. For starters, the history of the restaurant is quite interesting.I found the atmosphere very pleasant. You take a step inside and it feels like a nice Italian restaurant from the 60's. The service was great as well.My waitress was very attentive and would check on me often. The bread was quite enjoyable as well.Warm and fluffy with a nice, crisp crust.Perfect for dipping in sauces. The side of spaghetti with marinara was fine.Nothing really special. The biggest negative is that I ordered a dish that came with a heavy portion of fennel. This wasn't listed anywhere in the menu.I have ordered this dish before at other restaurants (Veal Saltimbocca), but I've never had it with fennel. It wasn't sage because it had that distinct anise flavor to it that I dread. Further, I didn't even taste the prosciutto. It was strange. It didn't really even taste salty at all.It was a very sweet, licorice taste that overpowered everything. The photo is after I had a few bites. All that said, I should've sent it back and I cannot be too harsh over one visit.Maybe I'll be back one day.
I'm on a family vacation, and I've been trying to get some Italian all week. Finally, I had an opportunity to get some.Read the reviews of Bruno's and had to try it.From the moment we walked in, the smell definitely set the tone.We were promptly seated, and right after that, we got bread and waters.Jamye was very helpful and patient as we looked over the menu.My wife got the Fettuccine shrimp zucchini, I got the lasagna, and our boy got the spaghetti with meat sauce plus meatball, along with the Toasted ravioli as an appetizer. The food came out and looked great and tasted even better. For dessert, we ordered the Chocolate Tarte and was just as good as the food. This is definitely a place that I'll return to and strongly recommend this for anyone.
