We randomly found this place because there was traffic on the freeway and it did not disappoint! We tried their breakfast and lunch and both were good. The breakfast sandwiches on a biscuit are soooo good! The lunch barbecue plates come with plenty of food! The barbecue could use a smidge more of seasoning but it wasn’t bad! Overall great people and good food.
Absolutely incredible experience this family operated barbecue joint, is the epitome of southern hospitality. They watched out for my well-being as well I walked in with a Texas longhorns T-shirt and the family worried about my safety so they gave me another shirt to switch out with it.The son Chris and his father truly have a passion for staying true to southern-style barbecue, The girls at the counter we're very friendly and courteous. There was a line out the door of locals that I chatted with and they told me that this was their favorite barbecue spot, the line didn't the stand still for long as they were quite quick getting food out.I'm not sure what else to say, the warm apple pies they served where an absolute treat the meal was excellent, prices are beyond fair....the passion in their food shines......best put this family takes their barbecue as seriously as the state of Alabama takes football.
In an attempt to find the best BBQ in Birmingham, I tried The Pit today and was very optimistic given the positive reviews. We ordered 2 large beef sandwiches and 1lb riblets. The riblets were good but the beef sandwiches were completely inedible. Both sandwiches had the most rubbery, hard beef I've ever had.The meat ripped out of the sandwich when you tried to unsuccessfully bite it.Then, when I tried to eat the meat like a strip of jerkey in my hand, I still could barely gnaw through it.I'd actually go as far as to say the beef sandwich was the worst BBQ I've ever had.The drive was not worth it and I don't plan on ever going back.Extremely disappointing.
