I really can't believe they're selling this to people. The rice and beans were cold with no seasoning whatsoever, not even salt.Literally straight out of the can.The rice was just crunchy bricks.Compared to everything else, the pork chop was fine since it was actually cooked. My girlfriend ordered hushpuppies as her side.Instead of letting her know they were out, they just left them out and didn't mention it.When she went back and asked, they offered her more of the lukewarm rice she already had. Considering we spent $40 on these barely edible meals, I would recommend skipping this place and at this point, the food hall altogether.

Apologies for the service guy received.Regarding your order and looking at the transaction. You seemed to have been told about the hushpuppies because you didn’t pay for the upgrade.Apologies if there was confusion. It was a long day for our team and a lot of last minute restocking. They provided you with the red beans that were cooking and we top them with our special seasoning in the end. This crew was not told the process. They were simply trying to provide the product as it was close to closing time.We hope this does not deter you from visiting us again and giving us a try - and the truly awesome food hall as a whole.Have a wonderful evening
2/5 ⭐️ Fried Catfish, Red Beans and Rice, Cajun Corn Platter I been wanting to try this place for a while.Love Cajun and New Orleans influence food.Everytime I entered Pizitz and tried to grab something, it would always be closed. This one evening, however, it happened to be open.I was debating between the sandwiches but decided to go with this combo platter that included Red Beans and Rice, Cajun Corn, and Fried Catfish that I had to pay +$1 extra for.Wait was not bad at all, but have to consider the food hall was not busy either. The total came out to around $19.That is quite hefty but no issues considering a lot of food in Pizitz is overpriced. What matters is the taste and experience you’re getting. As soon as I had my food handed to me, the box was light.I could have swore they just handed me a box with just 3 beans and some rice in it.Maybe something was missing, I thought.I sat down and opened the box and saw a little white styrofoam cup, dead looking white rice and beans, along with the catfish. Now if I am paying almost $20 for a meal, I want it to be a hefty meal in the box at least, not something that looks like the hospital cafeteria at 12 am.Again I was optimistic, as I was not going to judge the appearance of the plate that was handed to me. Now the Cajun Corn, was really hot, kind of that over-microwaved hot and the color of the corn told me it was old, maybe yesterday morning old.The corn itself was very salty, just leaving no Cajun flavor to be tasted. The Red Beans and Rice themselves looked dry and the rice especially just looking dead before it even reached the plate it seemed.Flavor again was more salty than anything, tasting a little like dish soap, and that over-microwaved temperature on them. The Catfish did seem to be the best thing of this experience, as it was fried good and the flavor was decent on it.Not the best; not the worst; but decent. Overall, I have nothing against the customer service, this business or anything.I did not read any reviews or look at any pictures before eating at this establishment, as I always give my full honest reviews without any prior judgement of others before entering any food place or restaurant. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing, but still, close to $20, it should be much better appearance wise, taste wise, and over quality and quantity wise. I will always be open for trying this place again as I am speaking from my personal experience, and maybe next time ordering the Peaux Boys, but as of now, unfortunately this is ranked on the lower scale of restaurants in Birmingham, for me personally.
The actual fried shrimp and stuff was good, and I REALLY liked their hushpuppies, but they serve fries that clearly come from a store bought frozen bag. Also, despite mentioning it and them asking about it multiple times, they still messed up my order by putting on sauce I said I didn't want and taking off things I said I DID want.Thankfully I was with a friend who was more than fine with just swapping orders (and intentionally got something harder to mess up for this very reason). Overall not really acceptable for a $20 meal. Edit: Bumped it up a star since I can understand not having the space to make everything yourself (and technically not claiming to, I guess), but getting frozen stuff you can buy at the store from a restaurant is never going to seem right.

Hi! Sorry for the confusion with your order. But just for clarification, we don’t advertise having hand cut fries. We’re a very, very small space and while we hand craft the majority of our menu offerings - to be able to have hand cut fries would be a difficult task.Thankfully one of our vendors carries one that has become a crowd favorite the last three years! We do hope you give us another try.Have an amazing and blessed weekend!
