We went to The Gage on St.
Patrick’s Day, right after the parade.
We made reservations in advance and they moved seamlessly.
Despite being packed in the bar area, they had regular seating with reservations and our service was excellent. We expected the place to be busy on St.
Patrick’s Day (and it was), but the staff was amazing.
They moved quickly, kept crowds away from tables and the service was top notch.
They didn’t make you feel rushed just because they were busy. The food was phenomenal.
They made a leprechaun cake hat with gold flecked ice cream.
The had the regular menu available, as well as a special St.
Patrick’s Day menu.
And they even had a bagpiper going room to room. I’ve been a Chicagoan for over two decades and I expected chaos.
I was so surprised by how flawlessly they managed everything and their quality was not compromised in any way.
This place is one of the best in Chicago.

I was there for restaurant week lunch.
The service was incredible.
The shrimp toast had a weird flavor to it for me.
Think it was the dill.
Steak frites were great.
The steak was cooked to perfection and the fries were good.
The only thing to note was the quality of the steak which wasn't the best but for $25 I couldn't complain.

Atmosphere: 5/5 - No complaints. Service: 3/5 - Server was very hard to get ahold of and quite slow. Food: 3/5 - Dinner is better, brunch was alright.
The Braised Duck Poutine is very filling and heavy.
It was good, but I'd avoid it if you don't want to fill up on one thing.
The Brussels Sprout Tartine was very good.
I personally enjoyed it a lot and would order it again.
The Pork Belly Eggs Benedict was a bit salty and didn't pair very well with the concept of eggs benedict.
The hash browns served with it could've been more crispy but felt sort of like a crab cake, texturally speaking.
Finally, their "Hong Kong" style French Toast was huge.
I was only able to take one bite and couldn't have any more of it.
If you plan to order that, I wouldn't recommend ordering anything else.
