This place has a great atmosphere and service.Every staff was kind and respond immediately for every request. The problem is the food.Spicy beef noodle is a joke. They don't use quality broth. It is just a water plus spiciest.Beef shank was a tire - it was not cooked long enough.Noodle was premade/overcooked.Seared dumplings were seasoned okay and cooked okay, but there was a very small piece of meat inside. I am very sad to say this place is one of the few places for soup dumpling. There was enough juice inside the Xiao long BAO but the dumpling wrapper was too thick. And it doesn't make any sense to steam the soup dumpling on top of the aluminum foil bowl. That's a joke. I hate to say unencouraging comments, but I think this place is way over priced considering its food quality.
NOTE: This review was written about the location in southern Nashville, but we think the review still applies! We got a recommendation for Steam Boys for the best dumplings in Nashville- it was tasty! There are 5 Steam Boys scattered around Nashville and one in Chattanooga. The Tiger sugar milk tea was to die for! It was probably one of the best Bobas I have ever tasted, and I am a Boba snob:) We got four seared Bao—two pork and two beef—and a large bowl of Vegetable soup.An order of 2 seared Bao is $7.25, the large soup was $14.We shared the soup and the bao between us.While we prefer the less greasy tastes of southeastern Asia, our meal was still great, especially if you love the greasier Northern Chinese food. The Bao buns were thick without being overbearing; the pork was our personal favorite and the spicy chili sauce was a great dipping addition. We ordered mild soup, the mildest that still has any spice. While it was a bit too spicy for my wife so she added soy sauce to pair it down, I enjoyed it.The snow peas especially were a highlight of the soup. We’d love to come back again to any of the Steam Boys! The recommendation was well worth it.Now we’re recommending it to you :)
Really neat place! Loved boba tea! Boba is actually filled with juice - not just a jello.Matcha tea with strawberry boba was amazing! Seared pork bao was amazing too! Hot dumpling bowl was super spicy.Chicken gua bao was not my favorite to be honest with you.Overall very solid place if you like different styles of dumplings. We will be back soon!
