Went as a group of 5 right at opening on a Saturday morning for brunch - The host was sweet and joyful as soon as we walked in, the wait was short and worth it. Our server was Dakota, he was amazing and had such a fun personality! He was patient, quick, attentive and funny.I had the Hash Bowl (with some modifications) everything came out perfect, quickly & was delicious! The drink runner or whoever delivered our bar drinks seemed very irritated / inpatient, she would not stop essentially yelling in our ears which drink was what while setting them down at the wrong person..We all knew what drinks we had we were just moving them to the correct person… Maybe she was just having an off morning, no biggie just something we all noticed! the drinks themselves were great! Overall a great experience! Request Dakota if you get the chance!
I always love a downtown brewery.Of the more than 500 I have been to, from suburban to rural to inner-city, it is the ones in the Central Business District that I love the most, primarily because that is the heart and soul of any city. Six Car Pub & Brewery opened in May 2018, which seems like an eternity ago now, especially with a pandemic sandwiched in the last six years. They have endured their own struggles, but like a Phoenix rising from the ashes, they are rocking it these days. They’ve got the brewing aspect dialed in, and the menu has been tweaked such that it pleases the Amarillo palate. I found myself there recently before a baseball game, and ordered the Impossible Burger with most of the usual condimentary suspects between the buns.I have had many a veggie burger, but this one was prepared exceedingly well.I still remember my carnivorous years, and I’d put this one aside any beef burger. To wash down the burger and fries, I chose first an old favorite, Make Good Choices, an IPA, and then a Chill Sunset, a Juicy IPA.Both are very approachable IPAs clocking in at 6.5% ABV, just the right amount before it becomes alcohol-forward.Six Car offered seven house beers when I visited, along with a couple of macros and perhaps a half-dozen guest taps. The ambience of Six Car is hard to beat, especially with its second floor dining space and elevated patio. There’s also a huge biergarten where leashed dogs are welcome. My, how the trees have grown in the six years since they opened! It is delightful out there. As an aside, weekends finds Six Car offering their brunch menu, which is amazing.Been there, and done that, and will definitely do it again. This is a treasure for Amarillo, and for all the Route 66 visitors who come through town each year, only a few hundred feet off the Mother Road. You know what to do.
Food was really good.We sat upstairs on the outside Patio.Great views. The service was slow starting out.Probably took 10 minutes just for someone to take our drink order. We held out and waited.Food was good.Tried the onion rings for appetizers then a couple different kinds of pizza.
