Rye Plaza

Delicious! We hadn’t been here in some time and I was glad to find it did not disappoint.
In a great location on the Plaza, this is a fine choice to dine with good food, good vibes, good service.
It was pretty busy at our Saturday lunch time, but our service did not suffer (I recommend making a reservation however).
Despite their good brunch options, I went with the shrimp & grits.
The grits were different than what I’ve had before but in a good way.
As much as I enjoy S&G, the beef and roux accented it beautifully and were the perfect compliments.
Come hungry as it was pretty hearty and I noticed some of their other food in pretty large portions.
They also have a nice cocktail list, both brunch and non-brunch.

Rye was my favorite restaurant of all that we visited in Kansas City.
The tasteful decor is highlighted by the choice of plants that adorn the dining area.
Service was attentive, food was delicious and the prices were all reasonable.

My sister and I came here for lunch during restaurant week.
The atmosphere is great and it's right on the plaza with a parking garage a 3 minute walk away as well as street parking which was a huge plus for us. We both ordered the Caesar salad and two pieces chicken meal.
I ordered an espresso martini as well. The Caesar salad was fresh and the croutons were well seasoned with hints of garlic, but it tasted like someone had added salt on top of the salad which caused the dish to be extremely salty and take away from the experience.
The fried chicken meal looked and tasted as if everything was made in house which we appreciated.
The wings were moist and the larger breast piece was as well (although my sister's was a bit dry in places).
The potatoes had a nice texture with a buttery and subtle sour cream taste.
The pickles offered a nice bite to cut through the heaviness of the dish.
However, the potatoes and chicken were both undersalted, which was very noticeable after the oversalted Caesar salad. The espresso martini was great, they made the espresso fresh. Overall, the ambiance was great and you could tell they made everything in house with an emphasis on local ingredients.
However, the inconsistencies in the seasoning on the salad/entree dishes did effect the experience in a negative way.
