It's a hidden gem located a few blocks from Georgetown's main shopping street, which is well-known to locals. This tavern serves the best lobster roll I have ever tasted, with generous amounts of freshly cooked lobster meat on a bed of tasty buns.I also tried their meatloaf, made using their version of mom's favorite recipe topped with fresh mushroom gravy, and it was delicious. The place has an old charm with a historic feel that creates a cozy atmosphere, which makes it perfect.
Martin's Tavern in Washington DC is a timeless gem that seamlessly blends historic charm with culinary excellence.Nestled in Georgetown, this iconic establishment has been a favorite haunt for locals and visitors alike since 1933.The ambiance is cozy and inviting, with wood-paneled walls adorned with vintage photographs, creating an atmosphere steeped in nostalgia. The menu features classic American fare with a sophisticated twist, including mouthwatering steaks, fresh seafood, and delectable comfort dishes.Service is attentive and friendly, adding to the overall warmth of the experience.Whether you're enjoying a romantic dinner for two or gathering with friends for a celebratory meal, Martin's Tavern never fails to deliver an unforgettable dining experience.
This place still has the neighborhood restaurant feel, even after all of the years it's been opened. The awesome history of all of the "famous or powerful" people that have dined here is wonderful. We were seated in the Richard Nixon booth, which is immediately adjacent to the John Kennedy proposal booth. Our server was Solomon. He was the perfect attendant. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and the dignitaries the partake here.We all had different dinners. Although the food was good, the stories told here were better.
