Southern restaurant (US)
Went alone on one occasion and with 3 friends on another. Both experiences were pleasant.I had the grits bowl, which had delicious flavors even without any meat. The interior design of the place is very reminiscent of old school, small town diners, giving it some comforting warmth. Will return to try other menu items, like the biscuits.
My recent venture to Kinfolk was ok.I was greeted with a smile by the young lady at the counter and placed my order in about 5 minutes. After placing my order I was seated right away. The menu is small/ limited which I appreciate because usually youâll get food that is really fresh and well thought out. After waiting about 30 minutes for my food I was eager to try it.I had the sausage biscuits and gravy and a side of fruit. The biscuits and gravy were exceptional and the cup of fruit was upsetting.I appreciate the time put into the food but for $5, a cup of fruit should be fresh and tasty.I only had 3 oranges and a few strawberries that looked liked they had been sitting for a few of days.As a restaurant that is self served, I expect to get food that is top tier.I appreciate Kinfolkâs hospitality, I just really hope they donât sacrifice the quality of their food in the future.
What initially sounds like breakfast âbasicsâ are elevated in subtle ways with lots of intentionality. The whole sphere of people involved in Kinfolk treat their work like art and it showsâŚthereâs nothing like it in Memphis.
