Breakfast restaurant, Pancake restaurant, Restaurant
We chose this place because my nieces and nephew wanted to check out a new place they've never been to since I'm visiting. We walked in and were immediately taken to our booth. The restaurant has an extensive menu with lots of choices of breakfast and lunch items. It took me a while to try to focus on something to get. There were several items that I wanted to try from the breakfast and lunch section. I chose the Hungryman Skillet, my nephew had the pancakes with sausage links from the Just For Kids section. My nieces had the Jalapeno Cheese Burrito and the Spinach, Bacon, and Swiss Omelete. The Hungryman Skillet was delicious with hash browns, onions, green peppers, ham, bacon, sausage and country gravy with two eggs any style on top.I chose to have my eggs sunny side up.The pancakes I sampled from my nephew was delicious. The service was great, our server and other servers frequently checked up on us asking how our meals were and topping off the coffee.I'll definitely try this place out again when I'm back in Indianapolis.
Quality has gone way down and prices have gone up.This time, I ordered the pumpkin pancakes and was shocked to find they aren't pumpkin at all. They are just pancakes with pumpkin puree dumped on top.GROSS!!! Are you kidding? The name is HOTCAKES Emporium.Shouldn't they specialize in pancakes (hotcakes)? We used to love it here. Not anymore. We are done.Don't waste your time..IHOP is better and cheaper.
I have been to this restaurant at least 50 times, and not once have I had any complaints about the food.My go-to meal is the Belgian Waffle with fruit, and not once have I had a problem with it.Sadly, these past two times Iâve been to HotCakes, the waffle has been different. The first time, the waffle was grainy and seemed to be made of pancake batter instead of waffle batter, but that was the only problem. This second time on the other hand, the waffle was cold; the butter wouldnât melt, the appearance of it looked like it was made yesterday; it was dark in color and not âlivelyâ if that makes sense, and for some reason, in the batter there was cinnamon.Waffles donât have cinnamon! Iâm not sure if they recently changed their cooks but they need to change them again. It seems like when it comes to waffles, theyâre cutting corners on how they serve them, and itâs extremely disappointing since thatâs the only thing I get there.Iâm really hoping they go back to how they were, but until then, Iâll continue to be disappointed. First time - first time itâs different (waffle, peaches, and eggs) Second time - second time it was different, and cold (just the waffle)
