Holy Smoke BBQ

I came here via a friend’s recommendation and I was not disappointed! The customer service was on point! The brisket was flavorful and moist; the potato salad was amazing and packed with flavor and the baked beans were delicious! It was well worth the price I paid! Next time I’m in KCK I’ll be coming back for my BBQ cravings.

When you think of KC BBQ, you’d hope to get something half as good as this place was! As you walk in the door you are greeted by the friendly staff and wonderful aroma of smoking meats.
There were 2 tables and a few counter seats but it looked like most people got their orders to go.
Holy Smoke did not disappoint at all! Definitely top notch ribs, brisket and beans! We wish we would’ve tried more meats and their desserts looked wonderful too.

Excellent BBQ in a spartan atmosphere.
I liked it so much that I came back a few days later to try it again… and it was almost as good.
That said, I think they could use a few improvements… Consistency.
I got the Shannon Beef Sandwich, and it was heavenly.
Like, it was the reason I came back a second time.
But when I got it again, it was completely different.
Different cut of meat, different style of cooking, less meat.
I wouldn’t have come back if I got the second sandwich on my first visit.
And if I can’t count on something being just as good every time, why keep ordering it? Sides.
I got the cole slaw the first time and the macaroni salad the second, and both were completely underwhelming.
Not much more than mayo and lettuce or pasta.
Pairing such good BBQ with such bad sides is a crime. Signage.
I almost left the first time I drove up because I thought it was closed.
The film on the windows makes them impossible to see through, and there’s no lights or signs that give you the idea it’s open.
I’m glad someone walked out just as I was about to drive away! Overall… I’d go again if I was nearby, and I’m sure it would be solid.
But I can’t call it somewhere I’d put at the top of my list to take people to.
It’s just not solid enough.
