American restaurant
Visited Haymaker for the first and last time.Loved the atmosphere, restaurant was modern and clean. However, we waited an extremely long time for our food after being seatedâŚanother server even noticed and the manager came and apologized for the long wait.We were on the verge of leaving when finally our food came. I ordered shrimp and grits.I can handle spice but the menu did not indicate that this meal was spicy. The meal tasted as if the cook had accidentally dumped the Cajun seasoning on the shrimp and bacon/sausage.It was too spicy to eat.I inquired if it was supposed to be a spicy dish and was told that it was Cajun shrimp and grits.Tried to take another bite of the meat and couldnât eat it.The manager was kind enough to remove it from the ticket. She also gave us the appetizer for free because we waited so long for our food.
Tried Haymaker with a group of friends for New Years Eve. It wasnât indicated on their website that they would be having a preset menu to choose from so we were thrown off by that as we had checked the menu before coming and had ideas about what we wanted to have. However, the preset menu was good. The food, dessert and drinks were tasty. Being New Yearâs Eve, it was hard to catch our waiter at times but overall we left satisfied. At first glance it looks small / not a lot of seating but thereâs an upstairs area with more space and we had a nice table. I would return to try their regular menu.
My friends and I had an absolutely terrible experience at Haymaker. We were excited for a great night of wonderful food and being satiated, but we ended up losing our faith in humanity as we were served mice portions with king prices. Each person ate much less than an entree but we were charged for double the amount they were worth a la carte.DO NOT EAT HERE, ESPECIALLY DO NOT LET THEM TELL YOU TO DO FAMILY STYLE.We had two extremely small single-person entrees for every four people in our group and were rationing rice grains between ourselves. When someone from our group attempted to talk to our server and the manager of the restaurant, very reasonably, to ask if we could get more food as we were not nearly satiated by the portions we had been given for the behemoth prices, the manager wasted his time and the time of a couple of other group members who went over for about 20 minutes talking to them with no productive result. They said the most they could offer us was more at a La carte prices and tried to comfort us by saying âfactor in the cookies for dessert!â Absolutely ridiculous. Also, the cups were from IKEA?! Just like everything else about this restaurant, very disappointing and underwhelming for the price point.donât eat here. Also, our server spilled water on one of our group members.Abysmal service, food, and overall restaurant.Donât make the same mistake we did.
