We wanted some comfort food but didn’t have anything specific in mind. After some searching we’ve decided on Filipiniana Restaurant…can’t go wrong with a buffet when we didn’t have any cravings at the time just some good grub to fill our empty stomach. We got there 5 minutes after opening…the place was empty, we were the 2nd customer that day. The guy behind the counter told us to sit anywhere and help ourselves to the buffet. Not all the food is out yet, but it’s fine because there was enough for round 1. Everything looks delicious so we grabbed a little bit of this and a little bit of that. As we sat in our little booth taking our first bite…both of our eyes lit up and smiled at each other. We devoured our plates in silence while anticipating for round 2 of this deliciousness. By the time we finished round 1, all the other food items are out and piping hot, and the place is packed. Round 2 was just as delicious and comforting as the first. We both commented that we didn’t feel like we were eating at a restaurant….it feels more like eating at a friend’s grandma’s house. The desserts were ok, not great… maybe because we were so full from stuffing our faces with all the yumminess. We’ve eaten at a lot of buffets but this place is definitely our new favorite. The food was amazing and comforting. The staff was friendly. We’ll definitely be back!
Do not go to the location on Bissonnet.I have never said this before about any restaurant, so let this be a warning. The Houston Bureau of Environmental Health needs to check this place out.Almost all the food in the shallow trays were very cold, while only the deep soup trays were hot. There was absolutely NO service, also water was self serve and the buttons on the dispenser were filthy. While we were there the cashier had to be told a couple of times by the manager to assist the customers waiting at the cashier's station.Aside from all the bad, what food I did taste generally did tasted pretty good.
The food here is absolutely AMAZING.As a fellow Filipina, this really hit the spot. There Are so many choices of food and everything was delicious.I’m kapampangan, so food is very very important to me.The food buffet was also kept extremely clean. Unfortunately, the service here was subpar. The servers were constantly on their phones the entire time and were a little cold.Despite this, I would 100% come back and recommend this place to everyone, especially those who have never had Filipino food before. This is a wonderful way to try multiple dishes at once.
