Best Guatemalan restaurant in the Houston Metro.
Very authentic the flavors remind me of home and the sweet bread is amazing.
They a great selection of authentic Guatemalan groceries including queso fresco y crema fresca.
If you wonder how Guatemalan food actually is visit El Quetzal on Gessner.

Love the variety of Guatemalan dishes they have.
The costumer service is excellent and there is plenty space to dine in or take out .
The one thing I dislike about today's visit was the way the restaurant owner was scolding one of the cashier's .
" She kind of yelled at her telling her with a frustrated voice " how long have you been working here , don't you know the procedure " and the scolding went on for a good minute or so .
Let's keep in mind that I was there witnessing everything and the restaurant owner didn't seem to care about her costumer.
There are places and times to discipline an employee so I think she was out of line for that .
Feel so sad for the employees at the Quetzal restaurant.
Hope they can read this review and reflect on it.

Alyssa at El Quetzal Bakery makes the most beautiful cakes for all occasions.
I have contracted them for baby shower cakes, all sort is birthday theme cakes, gender reveal cakes and the result is fantastic.
Her design always exceeds my expectations and the best best part of all is that the cakes actually taste amazing.
People always compliment the cake as not being “too sweet” and “beautiful”. I recommend her for all your cake needs.
