I made the wrong choice.
First time in KC and for weeks, when I have told my friends that I'm coming here, their first comment is, "Oh, great BBQ!" It took all day to get here (only 1 direct flight per day from the Philly area) so I literally dropped my suitcase and the hotel and ran out for BBQ! Ribs - thinnest i ever saw and i got an end with all of those gristle bones, blech.
Brisket - too thin, not tender and not enough smoke.
Reminded me more of my grandma's roast beef.
Pulled pork - really good! Tender, juicy, and great smoke.
They gave me a bunch of fat that I, personally, would not have plated, but it was delicious.
Also - don't order right away if you want to have a few drinks before your food arrives.
Mine was delivered in 3 mins flat! With all the great KC reputation, i expected more.

Sweet tea was great.
If this is a bbq place, there smoker must have been broke because the food tasted like it was baked in an oven.
Service and atmosphere was great.
Hopefully i can get some real Kansas City BBQ at Gates.

We got there right when they opened, but after an hour, people started to come in quickly.
Amazing customer service from our waiter, wished I had remembered his name.
A girl there, my boyfriend said rolled her eyes at me, but it didn't ruin the experience for me! But me and my boyfriend and him were just chatting away.
Food was soooo delicious.
The atmosphere inside was great; very spacious.
