Disappointing, I had a ceviche, a very small portion (the swett potatoe was served at the bottom of the plate so the size of the portion looked a bit bigger), overpriced, even the portion of “cancha” was so small. The taste is not great and the ceviche was all watery, it was clearly made with frozen fish not fresh from the market. I also asked for a passion fruit pisco drink, hard to feel the pisco more sugar than anything else and too expensive. There must be better places with more reasonable prices or bigger portions.
I'm visiting Paris and found online this small Peruvian restaurant nearby, so I went to check it out at lunchtime.I don't know if this is vacation season or not, but the place was empty except for me and a young woman awaiting her takeaway order. It took the owner 15 minutes to emerge from the kitchen and ask me if I want takeaway or eat in (I seem to have surprised her with the latter). The A-frame sign outside advertised their luch deal (entree + plat + dessert for ca.16 EU).Communication was difficult because I don't know French, but I made specific reference to the lunch deal.I chose tamales as entree (reasonable) and the exotic ceviche (quite good, esp the fruit, the fish was non distinct) as plat.I was offered no dessert, asked if I wanted coffee (yes), and received a bill for 31 EU.When I asked about the lunch deal, she started by claiming that it's not available during "vacance" (i.e.the sign outside was misleading). When I insisted this is what I assumed because of the sign, she said that there are other dishes offered in the lunch deal when it's available. The entire thing was really disturbing and embarassing.
In one word: disappointing. The food was overall subpar and overpriced for what it was (even when considering that eating ceviche in Paris is expensive per se).The chicken escabeche was overcooked and as for the ceviche: bland. There was not even the slightest bit of spice in it even though the ingredients were visually there. It's a real shame because the dish itself smelled pretty good. If you want to experience true Peruvian seasoning and flavours, go somewhere else.
