Bonjour! Service was top notch. The best! Ate here for New Year's Eve and had breakfast here. The food is great and service excellent. Bonne dégustation! For breakfast I had the omelet. The crispy (pommes) fingerlings were just the right amount of crispy, the salad tasty, and the omelet cooked just right too. I want to compliment my NYE server (Ivy) and this morning's server (Adrian). Thank you Ivy and Adrian!!
Below average French food for a French restaurant. Nothing was horrible, but clearly, the chef doesn't have classical training in French cuisine. Even so, any descent chef should be able to make these dishes without classical training in French cuisine. The biggest faux pas was watery sauce in both the boulliabaise and the coq a vin. And the chicken of the latter needed salt or brine. While the ingredients used were good, the execution was poor. Even the Carottes paysannes while not horrible was undercooked and had a watery overly sweet sauce with a that sweetness took away from the flavor of the fresh herbs in the dish. I don't doubt that there may be some good things on the menu. The table next to me had a burger and fries that actually looked delicious, but I don't go to a French bistro for a burger and fries. At best, this is an average American diner dabbling in French cuisine. At worst, it's a con, a diner masquerading as a French bistro, and if they had been more up front about that, I might be less disappointed.
Bistro Du Jour is an average French restaurant on the Wharf, serving a decent selection of common dishes. With a heated patio overlooking the water, it’s a convenient stop along the boardwalk.I wouldn’t say that it’ll blow you away. The seating is fine, the service is alright & the food is okay.Specifically, the food was way too salty and the menu lacked any creativity.A day later, and I’m still dehydrated - that French onion was insanely salty.Further, the menu was very short & bland - a waste for such a beautiful location.I’m not planning to come back, as there’re plenty of better options in the area. However, I loved their Kir; it’s a delicious & refreshing wine cocktail.
