Jamaican restaurant, West African restaurant
The service here was amazing! I didn't get her name, but the lady who took my order made me want to buy everything on the menu! Being African, I am naturally critical of any African food I eat.The rice here was okay, I wish it had more of that authentic, smokey, jollof flavor. The chicken was tasty but my family said it was dry.Rasta Pasta was not great...wished for more flavor and more sauce. The drinks were delicious, the cake was amazing ( ate it in seconds)! Beef suya was just flat steak with suya seasoning ( not cut up).I enjoyed it, but it was not the typical suya you'd expect.Still delicious! Cabbage was yummy...overall good expirenece. We'd go back but be more picky with what we order.
I went in yesterday afternoon, and I cannot stop thinking about the food a whole day later! The staff was so friendly. The environment was so clean, the decor was absolutely beautiful.I’m from out of town and I’m beyond happy I stopped by.I had the chicken curry with jollof and it was exquisite. The chicken was so juicy and tender and the rice was so flavorful.I will definitely be coming back to kansas city, to stop by here and get me some oxtails because I just know that it would not disappoint.
Upon leaving the Harry S.Truman museum I decided to look up a Jamaican restaurant in the area.I live 2 hours away as I am in the military.I have been craving authentic Jamaican food for the longest seeing as how there isn't any good Jamaican food near Fort Riley.I chose this place cause it was the first one to pop up and it had the highest rating. Why dig when I believe the best had already presented itself. Some of my battles decided to join me in visiting Wah Gwan for the first time and we all left satisfied. Our server was very friendly and humorous, demonstrated great hospitality & made us feel comfortable. She even took a picture with us. The total price for what I decided to order cannot be beat especially because they offer military discounts.I ordered more than everyone else because I already knew I wouldn't be disappointed. I decided to order sides because I wanted to taste everything I had been craving as I did not know when I would be back on this end.I got one side of: curry chicken, oxtail, & rice and peas.Let me add that they are not stingy with the juice/gravy & that is ALWAYS a plus..The only thing I wasn't expecting was for the curry chicken to be boneless.Nonetheless the flavor was still there.I also got a curry chicken patty; haven't had one since Golden Crust in 2013 and this one was much more spicier and tasty.😋 Lastly, I got the fufu & egusi soup alongside a kola champagne and toothpick lol.It was my second time trying egusi soup in general; I had to know for sure if I really liked it & I love it.Everything was hot, delicious and fresh.I took some of everything home that I ordered and even eating it a day or two later it was still amazing.I was also educated on how to preserve my fufu for later.I paid around $50, my battles paid around $20-$30.Two of them had the Rasta pasta & said it was tasty as well.I was able to try it & they ain't lying.lol My other battle got oxtail too with jollof rice and cabbage. She devoured her meal. You know the food is good when you smash the vegetables! 😂 I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu.Money well spent! I definitely plan on visiting another two times before I PCS. SN: Unfortunately, I only took videos of the food this day.So screenshots were taken from the videos!
