I really want to love this place. The atmosphere is great.I love authentic Gumbo, and went with that. And the broth was dark and rich - there just wasn’t much of it.Under the generous protein was at least two servings of rice that made up the bulk of the dish. Please give me a bowl of gumbo with rice on the side, thank you.My partner’s Blackened Catfish was exceptional, the highlight of the evening. She loves Rice and Beans, ordering a side, but again, it was mostly rice with some beans thrown in and very dry.Where’s the bean juice? Service was great.I want to give it another try because they have the fundamentals.
The best SF restaurant we visited so far as a tourist. Please don’t hesitate to try out here.We were initially going to get the fried chicken but ended up getting nicer recommendation by the chef.If you ever happen to visit here, definitely get Mac and Cheese and Shrimp&Gritz. You won’t regret it! Worth of every dollar you spend.
Delicious cajun food in a classic bar environment. We had a bit of trouble getting seated initially during lunch time on a weekday as there wasn't any host/hostess for 10 minutes or so and were greeted to an empty restaurant. Finally we were seated and ordered and I was very impressed by the gumbo.Extremely authentic deep roux with all the fixings like shrimp and sausage and crab.Good portions and a unique touch to have an arugula salad on the side which is my favorite salad.
