Seafood restaurant
Lovely iconic eatery serving local dishes.White table service paired with knowledge service (they can recommend wines if you ask). The food is tasty and generous. The poached celery (celery victor) was well cooked and full of flavour. The Cioppino was also a great medley of local flavours and the tomato came through. There's a good atmosphere here. You come mainly for the history but the food is worth a detour, especially if you are looking for some local cuisine. The cocktails aren't half bad either!
I think this place could be better if they updated a few things, for instance, the selection, which is too many in my opinion. This place was recommended by Lafe, the concierge at the Beacon Grand hotel.Although the food was really good, I can’t recommend this place for your normal diner, as it was kind of fancy, people dressed in suits, as well as pricey for the portions, and the quality of the food.I would equate this place to being similar to the old bookbinders in Philadelphia back in the day. There was a very old sense of familiarity associated with the 1950s through the 70s feel segregation of private booths, as well as rooms that were closed off, very posh.I ordered the octopus and I have to say, it was perfectly cooked. My wife had the stuffed pet role Marguery which was supposedly stuff with Dungeness crab shrimp and shrimp purée.I looked through this dish and tried to find any crab None was located.I did however find a very small piece of shrimp inside. That was the extent of this $33 dish.It was disappointing.
Lovely outdoor patio, 1server working but he was amazing. He poured drinks & served food. Checked on me multiple times, amazing attention to his customers. Makes for a nice dining experience.
