We finally visited The Hummingbird Way last night. We ordered the tasting menu, and the flavors were exceptional! I was particularly impressed with the wine pairings.I don’t usually enjoy white, but all of the selections complimented the food so well.We also had the BEST server! She was attentive, professional, and polite.💕(We had the Wagyu as our main.I forgot to take a pic of the pork course, which was my favorite.)
This is a somewhat hidden gem in the city of mobile.I decided to try this place for dinner and I must say it did not disappoint at all! The atmosphere of the restaurant is fun, energetic and overall family & friends oriented. The staff are professional, knowledgeable and make honest suggestions which is always a plus.I am a fan of oysters and these did not miss the mark! They were not chewy and they were filled with flavor. The cocktails are something you can’t miss out on; they do not water them down and they get the job done. The steak was cooked to perfection! When the chef came around to the table I gave him praises for having one of the top steaks in the city hands down. The potato’s that were paired with it honestly left me speechless; just delicious! The wedge salad was simple, fresh and packed with flavor. The soft shell crab on the bed of greens paired so well together and the way the flavors meshed together is just wonderful! Up to this point everything was beyond great so it was only right to try the desserts! The crème brûlée was good however the pineapple upside down cake stole the show!! The waiter explained that this wasn’t a “pop in the microwave” type of dessert so it would take a little extra time but would be worth it.He did not lie!! You could taste the quality and difference from that of other restaurants. If you have not tried this place yet you are missing out on a great experience. After trying the food I understand why they have so many awards and have been featured on food network.
A lovely location in residential neighborhood.we sat in front room where the bar is located. The back rooms were very noisy and folks were enjoying themselves. My friend because it was her birthday had the tasting menu. She enjoyed it very much. The first course was 1 oyster and she wished it was more. Each dish was excellent.I had the hanger steak a little tough, but that was expected.Cooked medium rare with red wine reduction.Potatoe hash with bacon was good.Oyster bisque was enjoyed by the others, but there was not much in the bowl.My other friends had the salads, fried chicken livers, and wontons- from starter section. The waitress did not have much to say, no recommendations, and no description of the food. She did not even tell us the cost of the tasting menu until we asked ($100) if you got the red snapper dish and $165 if you chose the ribeye.Extra cost for wine paired with each course. She barely spoke and smiled once when my friend said she was pretty.Another waitress came over and chatted with us when she learned we were from New Orleans.
