This was my second Pio Pio, and the only stand out was the sangria. The food was ok, but nothing to brag about here.I'm willing to give then a second shot.I went on a super busy day, and I the afternoon felt rushed.Forgetting side dishes was enough for a 1 start, but the highlight was the drinks and the aji sauce.
Nice atmosphere, the chicken was good, but everything else was nothing special. We ordered the combo, which came with whole chicken, salad, rice and beans, tostones and french fries with hot dogs. The french fries were ok, with normal Sabrett salty hotdogs cut on pieces. The salad was was also ok, consisting of iceberg lettuce, cucumber, avocado, red cabbage. The rice and beans were in small quantities, so even though is a combo, these two things are only for one person. You can get all these things for half the price from a Dominican Restaurant, but without the atmosphere.
Loved the food!! We ordered Tallarin Saltado con Camarones, Arroz con Mariscos & the Peruvian Combo for a group of five and it was filling. The Peruvian Combo consists of the chicken, French fries and salad (hence it’s name). The Tallarin Saltado con Camarones uses a Chinese lo mein like noodle that suits my taste much more than the typical type of linguini pasta with its texture being more smooth and slurpy.Overall, all the dishes we ordered were delicious and better than I had originally expected.Would recommend and likely re-visit the place if not its other locations! This location is also basically right next to the train station exit so easy to get to.
