Decided to visit the oldest restaurant in downtown Chattanooga. The Pickel Barrel never disappoints and have been aware of this establishment since I 2002. Today I went with the Pepper Jammer burger and it was delicious.First thing I noticed was the charbroil flavor blended with the tasty peppers seasoning and flavors made it a very unique burger.Surprisingly, how does a burger this good go unnoticed by major critics? It's up there! Presentation was hilarious and have never seen a burger stick it's bacon tongue at me. There was a nickel and it was good.Capps Chips were a nice touch with an excellent crunch.High recommend.
Very cool experience. We took the metal spiral staircase up to the rooftop which ended up being super packed on a sat night.Had the peirogis which were good but a bit hard on the edges. We each had a house salad and shared dry wings. The salads where fresh and wonderful and the dressings too.Wings were good as well.Service began more slow as the place filled up but I am keeping all stars because those servers are not only coming up and down the narrow spiral staircase all day/night long but carrying huge trays full of drinks and food.Incredible.At first we thought they should invest in a dummy-waiter to send food and drinks up and down but it is the oldest bar in the city and possibly not able to modify a historic building. We seemed to be the oldest people there (we're 40 and 49) so trendy I would say.Inclusive, good food options, cool rooftop option as well as a small bar downstairs with A/C.Cool history behind the place including Jimmy Hoffa frequenting in years past.Definitely worth checking out!
Our waitress said we got here at the right time (7.30pm) on a Friday night. This place is very cool.We sat on the upper deck patio area.We ordered grilled brie, tater tots and fried pickles just for snacking. The Spicy Pickle Margarita and O.D.P.were so good.Moonpie Sundea was great as well.Service with Joelie was excellent. We will definitely come back.
