Swedish restaurant, Cafeteria, Family restaurant
Tucked within the IKEA store on 16th St NW, the IKEA Restaurant offers a Swedish dining experience that aims to cater to families. While the atmosphere promises a casual cafeteria vibe, customer experiences have been notably mixed. Diners highlight an assortment of disappointments—dry meatballs, small portions, and cleanliness concerns. Despite the fast-moving lines and quick service, many recommend savoring the less expensive Swedish delights elsewhere. The charm of this restaurant may not match the quality or value expected in today’s dining landscape.

Old, dried veggie balls.Old dried green peas. Ran out of fries while serving. Servers weren't nice, polite or helpful. Disgusting attempt at food,, while charging decent$$.What a shame! DO NOT EAT HERE!
This fast food visit was utterly disappointing in every aspect (Sat Apr 27 around 4:40pm) • Food: The meatballs were dry, other items tasted stale, and portions were miserably small. • Drink station: Despite different labels, the sodas tasted like soda water, suggesting negligence in refilling the fountain machine. • Dining area: It was appalling; tables and floors were left uncleaned. • Value: Overpriced for what amounted to eight dry meatballs. This experience left me questioning the standards of IKEA. Didn’t want to take pictures and store them even a minute in my phone. You will see it yourself.
It's been a long time since I've had ikea meatballs and had a craving, so drove just for that reason. The queue was long, but moved fast, the staff was quick, and were quick with any recommendations or explanations needed. The portion size was relatively small, but that wasn't the disappointment.I guess times change for everyone because I remember the meatballs being fresh and moist, but they have become dry rubber pellets clearly bounced from a freezer l then swabbed with a bit of gravy in the hopes you can eat them. Even the sweets which I remember being amazing were just again pulled from a freezer case. I know costs for restaurants are at an all time high, but that doesn't mean sacrifice quality.I know everyone would pay a bit more for better food. The dining area serviced a lot of people and there didn't seem to be much in the way of cleaning the previously occupied tables, and the dish return was overdue for service. The drinks area was sticky and in chaos.
