Great weather so we sat outside on their shaded picnic tables. The people serving were just so friendly and accommodating and cheerful! Wife love her chili dog and me my Chicago dog. Chili sauce excellent. Root beer excellent!
Stopped in yesterday for a 1/2 gal of beer and some chili dogs to take back to Wisconsin. We moved out of Illinois a few years ago, so the only time we can stop is when we visit family who still live in the area. I've patronized Hey Hot Dog since they were on Cass Street, when my Dad and I would stop in. 50+ years later, the root beer is still the same, delicious blend I remember when I was a kid. Yesterday, I was again reminded me that having a draft root beer without a chili dog - or vice-versa - is just wrong. And if you don't enjoy both from this place, you are doing yourself a great disservice. The only thing I regret is not being able to sit at the counter.
Wow!!! My partner ahas been talking about this place since we met.Every day talking about how good the root beer is from Hey! Hot Dog.Honestly?? She undersold it! The root beer was so good I am honestly begging them to franchise out to Seattle so I can have it all the time!
