Mexican restaurant, Restaurant, Tex-Mex restaurant
A charming destination for dinner offering a plethora of options, particularly for enthusiasts of Mexican cuisine. The staff is warm and welcoming, creating a delightful atmosphere. Our experience indulging in the flavorsome tacos and tamales left us thoroughly satisfied.
While I don’t know if that’s what’s happened here, I’m starting to understand with better clarity, “Don’t California my Texas”. Unfortunately Güero’s seems to be a prime example of this. In the past almost every time we’ve come to Austin we’d try to stop at Güeros.Admittedly it’s been a while, and again I’m not sure what’s happened but the food now is sub par.The only things that really had any flavor were the spicy salsa, rice and cheese.Legit sent half my plate back and my Husband didn’t eat the taco he ordered as a side, the brisket tasted like cat food smells. Our waiter was friendly & attentive UNTIL it was time to leave.I have no idea what happened but we waited longer for our tab to be picked up than the food.It got to the point where we paid cash and left.
I arranged to meet a cousin here who was in Austin on business.Show him a little iconic Austin.I've lived here 30 years.I don't like to write bad reviews all I can say is our server totally ignored us.The food hasn't gotten more expensive as expected I guess being downtown. The food was sub par.I had the fajitas beef chicken combo.Meh :/ overall atmosphere was great. But yeah it was good and we had a good time.My cousin did enjoy the restaurant. We bought my cousin a guero's Tshirt. We'll be back. We've been coming here for over 17 years now.
