We were excited to try Gastro at 23rd as we saw a recent post on social media highlighting the establishment. The atmosphere was perfect and the drinks and service from “T” were spot on. We had the fried green beans, angus steak burger, and chicken sandwich - they were a perfect compliment to the margarita flight and the IPA that we enjoyed. Definitely worth a trip – make the drive south on Warwick Blvd.and check it out!
Online ordered what was described as a Beyond plant based patty and received a black bean burger. The two are vastly different.First time trying and was excited this place was close to home, I’m also a huge fan of Beyond meat so I was really disappointed when the order was not as advertised.I also feel that the packaging of their to-go odors was not very burger and fry friendly. My meal arrived in a container with no vents and the fries were already soggy in the under 10 minute delivery time.
Gastros at 23rd in Newport News, VA, presents an intriguing culinary concept, but my recent visit left much to be desired. The $18 burger, anticipated with high expectations, unfortunately fell short. Its diminutive size and overcooked patty were disappointing, particularly given the premium price point. However, the staff, while amiable, exhibited a noticeable lack of efficiency, leading to a prolonged dining experience. In contrast, the Smoked Old Fashioned was a standout, offering a delightful balance of flavors and a sophisticated presentation that truly impressed. While the ambiance and certain aspects of the menu show promise, the overall experience was marred by the aforementioned shortcomings.Gastros holds potential, but some refinements are necessary to fully justify its pricing and enhance the dining experience.
