I have always wanted to try this place and finally stopped for lunch.Mom had the rib sandwich with fries the fries were nicely seasoned and she enjoyed the sandwich.I had the 3 rib meal and they were quite good fall off the bone they use a sweet and slightly spicy BBQ sauce.I would certainly come back again. The restaurant was very neat and clean and the service was very good.On top of that when you eat here you are supporting a good cause.
First the restaurant was clean and temperature was great. The owner greeted us as we walked in.Server wasn’t up to date on menu but she was friendly and professional. The food didn’t take long to come out but the portions are very very small for the price. For an appetizer I ordered the fried green tomatoes. They lacked flavor a little hard but they were hot.For my meal I wanted to try a few things so I ordered a side of chicken legs, they lack flavor and they were dry.I also order the fried catfish which to my surprise was really good well seasoned however, the portion was extremely small. My sides were red beans and rice and cornbread.the beans had no flavor and there was hardly any rice.I also tried the collard greens just okay Listen, this is just not a place I’d go back to.The food is just okay and lacks seasoning that you usually enjoy in well cooked soul food. I was very disappointed because I really wanted to like this place. My real score is a 2.5 for food but the atmosphere pushed it up to 3 stars.
I was so excited to try this place.I am a huge fan of chicken N more and sole food places in Spokane are very far and in between.First the atmosphere is great.Extremely friendly staff and cute uniforms and a very colorful restaurant with outside dinning available. The place looks amazing. Now for the food.I’ll be honest I didn’t really like it.I mean I’m not going back this restaurant. The bbq Sauce is very sweet and the baked beans taste more like a sweet chili then baked beans. The ribs fall of the bone but the seasoning just ruined it for me.The fried green tomatoes had no taste. The chicken also had zero flavor. The Potato salad was my favorite thing out of the whole meal. You may enjoy the food but for me a Spokane native I don’t have a lot to compare it to as far as soul food.I do wish these guys success and hope they stay strong.Spokane needs a cultured place like this. It’s just not my cup of tea.
