Emmy Squared Pizza: The Summit - Birmingham, Alabama

Pizza wasn't bad.
The crust/breading was really nice however the whole thing needed more sauce and more flavor.
We had the basic pepperoni to get a feel for what the pizza was, it had these spicy pepper globs on top that was too hot with no depth.
Just spice.
The brussel sprout salad with miso dressing was dripping wet and was insanely salty.
Not a bad place, not for me personally.

On 12/30/2023, after shopping at the Summit we decided to try this restaurant.
It wasn’t very crowded at 8 PM and we sat at the bar.
We ordered the mozzarella sticks for an appetizer at the bartender’s suggestion.
These were bigger than most we’ve seen and very good.
For our entrees we ordered a Margherita pizza which came out in a square like the restaurant’s name and a Chicken Parmesan sandwich which was a double chicken breast on a pretzel bun.
Both were very good and there was leftover pizza to take home.
There are a lot of restaurants at the Summit but this one is worth considering.

Went for the first time today.
Was recommended by family.
They weren’t busy at all.
Only two tables had people sitting at them and the restaurant was otherwise empty.
No one was waiting in line to be seated or anything.
By the time we left only one more family had come in to be seated and eat.
I could understand the issue if they were busy but they were not.
Arrived and the hostess escorted us to a table and ASKED, “Will this table be ok?” We asked if we could have a booth and she said the booths are for larger parties.
We then asked for a different table that was slightly larger and out of the main walkway.
She was hesitant and gave us pushback.
Why even ask if the table is ok if you don’t want an honest answer??? Never been a problem getting a table change, if needed, or a preferred table at any other restaurant, ever.
She finally asked where we wanted to sit and we repeated that we prefer booths.
I advised her we’d be glad to dine at a different restaurant if seating us at a different table out of the main walkway was an issue …she finally sat us at a booth.
The waitress came and we explained the seating situation to her and she apologized for the trouble.
The waitress was lovely and did a great job.
The food was good, especially the Mozzi sticks and Marina Sauce.
The atmosphere and music were wonderful.
Overall, minus the hostess, this was a lovely lunch date.
