El Torro Bravo South, located just outside Indianapolis, Indiana, proved to be a delightful surprise during our travels.Despite its bustling atmosphere, we were promptly seated upon arrival. The complimentary chips and salsa set a promising tone, both offering a satisfying taste.Opting for the fajitas, I found them to be a highlight of the meal. The meats and shrimp showcased commendable quality, with a well-balanced distribution of protein. While the flour tortillas were passable, their quality paled in comparison to the delectable fajitas. The restaurant maintained a clean environment, contributing to an enjoyable dining experience. However, the service fell slightly short of expectations, although it did not detract significantly from the overall enjoyment.Ultimately, El Torro Bravo South left a favorable impression primarily due to the exceptional quality of its dishes.I would gladly return for another opportunity to savor their flavorful cuisine.
This was our first time here where we ate in instead of carry out.I find it hard to put a good term to this place, especially since I'm not some expert on Mexican culture or cuisine.I would almost call this place a Mexican cantina more than a traditional Mexican restaurant. The decor is more that of a Tex-Mex place where it has been heavily "Americanized." The atmosphere doesn't shout "Mexico" like some restaurants do. We arrived around noon and there were only 2 other tables seated: a couple who already had their food and a family of 5.We were seated quickly and at the same time the family of 5 was being served their food.We then sat for at least 10 minutes waiting to place our order.Given we were the only table without food, I don't know why it took so long for someone to come to our table. The staff was friendly and warm. The food arrived quickly but was underwhelming. It was clearly Mexican food but just didn't seem to have any of the heavy spice that one would be used to in other places. It just tasted bland. The prices were pretty competitive to other places but, given a choice, we would probably go elsewhere.
Everyone enjoyed their meal.We were well taken care of.They fit a large party (25) in for a birthday get-together. They did have advance notice from the birthday girl.
