My wife and I have supported the owners of this location from the beginning, even through the pandemic when staffing was a major issue. They used to work in the restaurant all the time and were genuinely nice people.Things change and so do people. The last dozen or so visits have been awful.Today was the last straw and we will not be back. If you aren't one of the regular barflies, don't expect to get any service because the staff are too busy talking to them and ignore the rest of the restaurant. The staff and the owner seem to forget that just because the walls that separate the sitting areas are high (too high), we can still hear them when they complain about having to deal with customers. The food is pretty good, if you can get the staff to wait on you and bring it out.I wanted to try a new burger and beer they had on the menu but today was the last straw. After 30 minutes of being ignored while the staff walked past us, we walked out and will not be back.Perhaps they should just turn this location into a bar and be done with it.Probably be a lot easier to manage then since they don't seem to care about actually serving customers.
Jenna, one of the servers, asked me to write this review and mention her name. But before that, a little review about the restaurant itself. The booths are comfortable without putting you to sleep and offer a modicum of privacy with their high backs and sides. There is a ton of sports on TV, but no way to listen to any particular one you might desire. The food is always fresh and cooked right.Personal favorite dishes: The 1985 Salad, the Half and Half lunch special with the Cuban sandwich and the fries. Now let's talk about the staff.Stephanie and her husband and sometimes their family own and run the place. They are friendly and efficient.I always look forward to seeing them. There are several wait staff that I do not see on a regular basis, but who seem to do the job. Then there are Jenna and Mackenzie.(I am so tempted to not say anything after that last sentence just to see their reaction.) While Mackenzie is more reserved, Jenna is outgoing. Both are a joy to talk to and they provide excellent service. This core staff as well as the food always make me look forward to a visit.
Fourth time visiting this location and previously had reasonable food.Came back for the Boom Boom Shrimp but this time it was so over cooked it was inedible. Wonder when they last changed their frying oil because my son’s boneless wings were also overcooked and had a bitter taste. Strong suspicion that we had Friday’s leftovers refried. They had taken both meals off the check but when the server saw my son eating a wing the she took back the check and added it back on. He was hungry so he had to eat something, even if it did taste like crap. We just moved to the area and looking for our “go to” place for some reasonably priced good food. The search continues. We noticed a Ruby Tuesday close by which was a nice surprise because they closed all their restaurants in Daphne and Mobile.
