I've read a bunch of these reviews on here and wonder what some of the reviewers expect? - I have shopped here over the last few years and here's the thing- I don't go here for the customer service or schmoozing.I come by this store because it offers products I can't buy elsewhere and the halal meat I've bought has NEVER been "almost rotten"...seriously folks??? I have bought fresh meat cut to my specifications at great prices.I have never bought a single thing that was expired or had gone off (not saying there might not be expired items and I don't buy breads or other baked goods). But meats, cheeses, canned goods, teas- again, never had a problem. Yeah, the guys at the check out might periodically be awkward and socially inept. So what.I don't care whether my ego gets stroked by the cashier.I don't care if I get treated like some princess just because I'm in someone's store. I'm not doing the shop owner a favor, quite contrary I feel this shop does me a favor by providing products that are otherwise hard to find. I'm happy this place exists and I'm not stuck with having to go on the internet to order items when I can buy them locally. I will always return here to shop.
I'm new to the area and was super excited to find an Afghan grocery store to see what kind of stuff they got despite some negative reviews. Me and my husband went in and were not greeted at all.The cashier was too busy talking to his buddies than paying customers but I brushed that off and continued looking at thing's because it wasn't that serious. I wanted to get some of the cookies that was in the frozen section but there was literally nothing to grab them with or bags and I was scared to get them and have them be expired and get sick.Since a lot of reviews mentioned expired items.I can't risk that since I'm 8 months pregnant. So we continued looking, and I found a beautiful evil eye piece that they had, and my husband just got an energy drink. We moved our way to the register where the cashier and his buddies all moved away, and we just stood there being ignored looking at thing's while they continued talking.I don't think they knew that I spoke dari, and I heard his friend tell the cashier to go check them out.I think they are ready to pay.The cashier said okay to him and moved behind the counter. He once again didn't say hello or did you find everything okay? Barely made any eye contact with us, which made the whole encounter so uncomfortable like we were not wanted there.I'm middle eastern and my husband is white so I don't know if that had anything to do with this whole situation but after being treated this way with such customer service I will not be coming back here. The customer service in this store needs to do a lot better.I usually don't write bad reviews but this whole thing made me really upset and kind of ruined my evening.
I absolutely love this place! They have a fantastic selection of spices and a variety of Middle Eastern foods.Arabic, Indian, Persian, and Turkish are my favorites.Highly recommended!
