This place was highly recommend to us by a local so we were excited to dine there. We had a reservation for the outside and upon arrival although there were numerous tables (for a party of 2) were open, we were placed in the corner with no air flow. When asked if we can switch to another table I was given a firm "NO".
The kind lady behind the bar saw my interaction with her colleague and she looked very disturbed by it.
Before our food came, she quietly moved us to another table.
We were grateful. Our server was nice but he was busy tending to our tables with more orders and did not check on us even once till we asked for the check. We would not recommend this place to individuals visiting the city center as there is no shortage of restaurants with decent service around that area.

We had dinner at Vatra, and it was a really nice time. Food was amazing, from traditional Romanian cuisine.
The meal sizes are quite large, but everything was delicious.
I recommend Zakuski for the appetizers and Sarmale from the main dishes. The atmosphere is also reminiscent of Romania, with local textiles on the walls and music playing in the background. Staff were helpful and attentive, pointing out which food had specific allergens. The prices are medium (not low, but not extremely high either), with 85 RON per person. Overall, this is a great place to visit, and I would return here again.

Quite but perfectly formed restaurant.
The mixed grill was good, especially the sausage.
House wine was lovely, too.
Having never had the national desert before, I don't know if it was the best around, but we enjoyed it! It's a lovely hidden gem as it isn't insta famous yet, but it should be as it's a nice honest Romanian food restaurant.
