raditional AMERICAN BBQ cuisine which leaves plenty to be desired. The place is properly decorated to resemble a bear pit, with pictures of bears everywhere. Not my favorite, but it works for the place. It was my first time and my friend, who recommended the spot, wanted to order her favorites for me.You are given pickles, celery and carrots as a free appetizer as you wait for your food. We had Turkey sandwiches on garlic bread, chilli, sausages, macaroni and cheese, baked beans and iced tea. Before I even get to the food, I must say the place was empty and near closing so I feel like our food wasn't freshly made, especially the garlic bread, so this significantly contributed to the food quality and overall experience. The macaroni was just awful and overcooked.Think mushy cheese. The Turkey sandwich was bland and the hard garlic bread didn't do it any favors either.I surprisingly liked the chilli, which had a smoked thing going for it, and the sausage was pretty good as well. After being disappointed with the food I nearly lost my mind when the $90 bill arrived.I DO NOT comprehend the cost associated to such lackluster food. Our server was tired and cleaning up so we had to wait a bit to track her down. This was a little disappointing as the food was pretty cold to begin with.I must say that the hostess and the server were nice people, and I APPRECIATE that tremendously.Overall, this was my first and definitely my last time eating there.I had high expectations and left with bubblegut.Definitely not worth the money or sacrifice of tastebuds.
Hit or miss with the food. Sometimes, it's great.Others, it seems like it's been under the heat lamps far too long. Fried taters are always great. Sandwiches are always good. Still one of my favorite barbecue spots. Service is always great.Wait staff are knowledgeable and attentive.
I was going to the bear pit regularly with my family when i was growing up, the last time I had went there was about 1998 or 1999.So it's been over 2 decades since I've been there.Ordered their spare ribs and it was out of this world.Just like I remember having them when I was younger.Price is a little higher (blame the economy for that) but still very do-able.Thank you to the cooks and the waitresses and the front house for a wonder experience and reviving amazing memories ❤️❤️❤️
