Sidney Street Cafe

I don’t even know where to start.
First, you could walk by this place every day and never know how good it is until you try it.
A friend suggested I tried it and warned me it’s pricey, but so worth it, and they were right.
The ambience was great for date night.
The menu was small and well curated.
Everything we got was so full of flavor and was presented in a very unique way.
I wish we had tried some more of the appetizers as that is what they are known for but ya boy is balling on a budget so we only tried the crudo and it was incredible.
We got French onion soup as a started and it was so yummy.
I got fish for dinner and it was delicious, I just wish the portions were a little bigger.
My girlfriend got a chicken dish and it was presented in circle patties which was very interesting.
We finished with a wonderful desert and I can’t remember the name of it but there’s a picture attached to this review.
All in all, I had a great experience and will be sure to reserve a spot here for my next celebration or date night.

Somehow I forgot to review SSC when I ate here a few months ago, which is weird because I tell everyone how great it was. The ambiance here is very nice and the service is fantastic.
But of course the food is the driving force here.
The beef tartare was an awesome and unique appetizer that you'll only see at a high end place.
The broccoli salad was excellent and presented beautifully.
The duck was by far the best I've ever had.
Perfectly cooked on the inside with an amazing crunch and sauce on the outside.
The chicken and pasta were also both great. I keep a list of restaurants in St Louis to try, from burger places to high end establishments.
Sidney Street Cafe will remain at the top of that list and I'll be back for sure.

I'm almost at a loss for words when it comes to leaving this review and I'm only doing it because I'm required to say something and not just make sounds from pure bliss and satisfaction. This just might be the best meal that I've ever had in my life. Read that again. I know that's a very bold claim but there simply was not one thing that was off or mid in this food.
From the moment I walked in the restaurant I was greeted personally and with a smile.
The ambience is set just right for a nice chill evening. We had Mary as our server and you can tell that she truly takes pride in what she does because her attention to detail is second to none and the way that she presents every dish is with care and enthusiasm.
If it's up to me which I think from what I've seen in this restaurant it will be, I will have her as my server every time. The food... It was truly an experience and a journey.
As I do with all restaurants that I attend for the first time I get the full run of offerings (drinks, appetizer, entree, side(s), dessert).
I can't describe to you how everything was prepared to perfection.
The Panisse and Crudo really stole the show for me and they were only the starters.
I HIGHLY recommend though.
They change out their menu from time to time though so it may or may not be available when you go.
Just when I didn't think I was able to do anymore along came the dessert...PLEASE get the dessert.

Well I can show you better than I can tell you.
Let's just say this dessert single-handedly changed my mind on matcha (see pictures). Is the place that is great for a night with friends or a nice date.
I can't recommend this place enough and I will absolutely be going back. 21/10 highly highly recommend!
